The short version

  • LetsFocus has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no trackers.
  • Your block lists, settings and activity are stored only on your phone. We, the developer, never receive them.
  • The app's Accessibility service is used only to detect what you've chosen to block. What it sees is checked on the phone and never sent anywhere.
  • The app goes online only to reach Google Play when you buy or restore the one-time unlock.
  • Uninstalling LetsFocus deletes everything it stored.

01Who we are

LetsFocus is an Android app that blocks distracting apps and websites. It is developed and published by LetsCrak ("we", "us"). This policy covers the LetsFocus app and this website, letsfocus.online.

If you have a question about this policy or your data, email us at hello@letscrak.com.

02What the app stores on your phone

LetsFocus keeps the information below so it can do its job. All of it is saved in the app's private storage on your phone. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and the app opts out of Android's cloud backup, so it isn't copied to your Google account either.

WhatWhyHow long
Your setup: block and allow lists, profiles, schedules, limits, keywords, categories, your block page text, redirect pages, settings, and any change that's waiting out a cool-down To enforce the rules you set Until you change or delete them, or uninstall the app
Websites you spend time on: the site's name only (for example, youtube.com), when the visit started and how long it lasted Website time in Insights and in "Reveal my distractions". Full web addresses, page content and search terms are not stored. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy → Track website time Deleted automatically after 60 days, or at any time with Settings → Privacy → Clear history
Blocked attempts: which app or site was blocked, and when The "held off" count on the home screen, widget and Insights Deleted automatically after 60 days, or with Clear history
Daily usage counts: minutes and number of opens today for each app, and for websites that have a limit or a breathing pause To apply daily limits and the breathing pause, even after the phone restarts Deleted automatically after 7 days
Focus sessions: when each one started and ended, focus time, and whether it was finished The timer, your streak, the "Held." screen and Insights Until you uninstall the app
Your password, if you set one, stored only as a salted PBKDF2-SHA256 hash, never as the password itself To lock the app and protect your settings Until you remove the password or uninstall the app
Trial and purchase status: when your free trial ends, whether you've unlocked the app, and the latest time the app has seen on your phone's clock To run the 3-day free trial and keep the app unlocked without a connection Until you uninstall the app

03How the Accessibility service is used

LetsFocus uses Android's Accessibility service API. It's the only way an Android app can tell which app you've opened and which website a browser is showing, and LetsFocus can't block anything without it. You turn it on yourself in Android's settings, and you can turn it off at any time.

What it reads

  • Which app is in front (its package name), to check it against your lists, limits and schedules.
  • The address bar of web browsers, to find the website you're on and match it against blocked sites and keywords. The address is checked on the phone and then discarded. If website time tracking is on, only the site's name is saved, as described above.
  • The structure of the screen in apps where you block a section, such as YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels: identifiers and labels of buttons and tabs, so it can tell whether that section is open.
  • Android's own settings and uninstall screens, but only when uninstall protection is on, so it can step in when someone tries to remove or switch off LetsFocus.

What it does with it

  • Shows your block page or breathing pause over a blocked app.
  • Moves a browser tab off a blocked site, or to the redirect page you chose.
  • Presses Back or Home to leave a blocked section of an app.
  • Counts time and opens for your daily limits.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't record what you type, read or watch, and it doesn't take screenshots.
  • It doesn't read the content of your messages, emails or web pages.
  • It doesn't send anything it sees off your phone, to us or to anyone else.
  • It isn't used for advertising, profiling or any purpose other than the blocking you set up.

Before Android's Accessibility settings open, LetsFocus shows you what the service reads and how it's used, and asks you to agree. If you choose "Not now", nothing is turned on. The service stays off until you switch it on yourself, and you can switch it off at any time.

04Other permissions

  • Usage access lets LetsFocus read Android's own record of how long you used each app, to draw your screen time charts in Insights and to suggest distractions in "Reveal my distractions". It's read when you open those screens and isn't copied anywhere.
  • Notifications show the focus timer, break and session alerts, and a reminder before your free trial ends.
  • Alarms and reminders (exact alarms) end focus phases on time.
  • Run at startup restores a running focus session after the phone restarts.
  • Device administrator is used only for uninstall protection, and only if you turn it on. LetsFocus requests no device admin policies: it can't see, lock, wipe or change anything on your phone. Being an active admin simply stops Android from uninstalling it until you switch protection off.
  • The list of installed apps is read so you can pick apps to block and so LetsFocus can recognise browsers and games. Only the apps you add to your lists are saved.
  • Internet and network state are included by Google's Play Billing library. They're used only to talk to Google Play when you buy or restore the unlock.

05Purchases through Google Play

LetsFocus is free for 3 days, then unlocked with a one-time purchase. The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your name, email address, payment card or billing details.

When you buy or restore the unlock, the app asks Google Play whether this Google account owns it, and saves the answer on your phone so it keeps working offline. Google processes your purchase under the Google Privacy Policy. Through the Google Play Console we can see the order records Google provides to developers for sales, refunds and tax.

06What we don't collect or share

  • We don't collect personal information through the app. There are no accounts, and we run no servers that the app talks to.
  • The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking code.
  • We don't sell, rent or share your information with anyone, because we never receive it.
  • We don't track you across other apps or websites.

The only third party involved is Google, which runs Google Play and processes purchases, as described above.

07Keeping and deleting your data

Everything LetsFocus stores stays on your phone and is kept only as long as the table above says. You're in control of it at any time:

  • Website history and blocked attempts: Settings → Privacy → Clear history. To stop recording website time, turn off Settings → Privacy → Track website time.
  • Lists, profiles and schedules: edit or delete them in the app. Changes that loosen blocking wait out your cool-down first, as you chose.
  • Everything: uninstall LetsFocus, or clear its storage in Android's Settings → Apps → LetsFocus → Storage. If uninstall protection is on, switch it off in LetsFocus first: Settings → Protection → Uninstall protection.

Because we don't hold any of your app data, there's nothing for us to delete on our side. If you've emailed us, we can delete that correspondence on request.

08Security

Your data sits in LetsFocus' private storage, which Android's app sandbox keeps away from other apps. A password, if you set one, is stored only as a salted PBKDF2-SHA256 hash, and the app locks again 30 seconds after you leave it. Because nothing is sent over the internet, there's no server copy of your data that could be exposed.

09Children

LetsFocus is a general productivity app and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included, because the app doesn't collect personal information at all.

10Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, and to object to how it's used. With LetsFocus, all of your app data is already on your phone and under your control: you can view it in the app, change it, or delete it as described above. We hold no app data about you to hand over or erase.

If you have a request or a concern, email us at hello@letscrak.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

11This website

letsfocus.online uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Its fonts and images are served from this site, so your browser doesn't contact anyone else to show it.

The site is hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps. Like any web host, Microsoft may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your visit to deliver the site and keep it secure. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.

12Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, for example if we add optional syncing between devices in the future, we'll update this policy before that version is released and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes on Google Play.
